i just bought my son a psp today and i was wondering how do you tell what version it is and what firmware it has on it alls i see its a black and yellow box and it came with atv fury blazin trails and lords of dogtown movie ..... the only number i can see besides the barcode is the psp -1001/98509 please help....

It should be fairly easy if you don't upgrade your firmware with a game or online. just don't go above 2.71 until you do some reading. the first thing you should do is identify your PSP's motherboard. If it is a TA-082 or above things will be harder.
I don't like giving links to other sites but it is better than stealing there stuff. so go here to look until more info is put here.

P.s. I bought the same PSP back when I got mine and it was a TA 082 board and took it back. But there is things you can do now but there is a lot more reading to do and a higher risk of bricking your PSP _________________

HI CAN SOME ONE TELL ME HOW TO DO THIS OK I GOT A CHEAT DEVICE FROM THIS WEB SITE FOR GTA VCS AND EVERY TIME I LOAD IT WILL SAY LODING MEMORY STICK DO NOT UNPLUG USB CABLE. PLEASE HELP
