Hi there mates.

HQ proudly add a new console to the network, Nintendo DS, as the PSP started with a forum inside xbox-hq, DS starts inside a forum, the PSP forum.

Everybody is welcome to post here as long it is about DS and as long it follows the rules

The rules are the same as the rest of the forums.

NO PIRACY at all, do not ask for games or rooms here.

In this forum we will talk about everything related with DS, which includes as main topic hacking and modding.

--------------------

So what is a DS?

The Nintendo DS (abbreviated to DS or NDS) is a dual-screen handheld game console developed and manufactured by Nintendo. It was released in 2004 in Canada, the United States, and Japan. The console features a clamshell design, with two LCD screens inside—with the bottom one being a touchscreen. The Nintendo DS also features a built-in microphone and supports wireless IEEE 802.11 (Wi-Fi) standards, allowing players to interact with each other within short range or online with the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service.

The system has 2 CPU units, 2 powerful 2D engines and a less powerful 3D engine.

There are 3 version, the original fat DS that was replaced by DS Lite which is smaller and upgraded.

The 3rd version is the DSi which has 2 cameras, a single but more powerfull CPU, 4 times more RAM than DSL and a SDcard reader instead of the DSL GBA slot (Which allows to upgrade the RAM in DSL)

The most popular and easy to mod is the DSL

There are a dozens of emulators for the DS.

For me, my favorites emulators are JEnesis (emulates Genesis) S8DS (emulates SMS) SNEmulDS (Emulates SNES) and MarcaDS (Like MAME)

The best of this emulators is that they run flawlessly (no need of extra RAM)

I got the original DS 3 weeks after it came out. Too bad I hardly ever use it. I've only got 5 games for it. I've been wanting to mod mine forever though, looks like this is the forum for me :D
