i also heard the rumor but i dont think its likely, this generation of consoles has hit a high in gaming history, which will mean an extended life for this gen, here are some articles, apparently the ps3 is planned for a 10 year life span, the 360 around a 6-7 life span, which in theory would indicate nintendo will have to come up with its next gen console prior to these as the wii is "barely" next gen imho.

ps3 is still the best xbox still has long way to go in product durability you can play ps for hours and it wont break down and over heat and what will happen to all those signature games

I wont be surprised if Sony stops making consoles because what matters is the money.
Remember SEGA went very far until they say "no more hardware!"
Brands only make a new console when they are sure to get profits. _________________

I think they will try again to keep in competition with the Xbox 360, see the PS3 as a bad set back and try to move forward, they keep updating the PS3 and PSP with new features but I think they will eventually fall out of the market before the 360 does.

I done an article the other day for 360-hq and although project natal is coming out, I think that the PS3 and Wii still have a chance as Microsoft has decided not to release and 3D features that the PS3 and Wii will receive. Although it sucks and I would prefer the 360 as well, I think we aren't quite out of competition yet.
